About Himchuli

Let me introduce you to Himchuli Restaurant, a Nepalese restaurant tucked into the lively Alcântara area of Lisbon at R. do Sacramento a Alcântara 48, 1350-279 Lisboa, Portugal, a spot I usually describe as comforting, flavorful, and quietly memorable. Walking in, the atmosphere feels relaxed and welcoming, the kind of place where you can slow down, talk, and actually enjoy your food without rushing, which makes it perfect for casual lunches, easygoing dinners, or those evenings when you want something different from the usual. Himchuli focuses on Nepalese cuisine, bringing warm spices, balanced heat, and layered flavors that feel authentic without being intimidating, so even first-time visitors feel comfortable exploring the menu. I often recommend it to friends who enjoy discovering new tastes but still want familiar options, because the kitchen does a great job of blending tradition with approachability. The menu is thoughtfully built, offering vegan and vegetarian options alongside hearty meat dishes, which means groups with mixed preferences can all find something they genuinely enjoy. Service options are flexible too, since you can choose to dine in and soak up the atmosphere, grab a quick takeaway, or order delivery when you want Nepalese food at home. Drinks are also part of the experience, with choices that include beer, wine, spirits, and coffee, making it easy to pair a meal with something you like or linger a little longer at the table. Late-night food is another plus, especially in a neighborhood where dining hours tend to stretch, and the friendly service keeps the experience smooth and unpretentious. When I talk about Himchuli, I usually focus on how effortlessly it fits into everyday life in Lisbon, offering comfort, flavor, and variety in a single, easygoing setting. I like pointing out the thoughtful spice levels, the clear menu descriptions, and the steady, confident service, all of which help newcomers feel guided rather than overwhelmed while regulars appreciate the consistency and calm rhythm of each visit.

A delicious variety of Indian and Portuguese food described by our lovely waiter and presented elegantly. The samosas were the best we’ve ever had… light and well-seasoned and full of flavour. The salad was fresh and tasty. The shrimp risotto had robust flavour and the seafood bowl amazingly tasty. Highly recommend a stop here.

A wonderful little restaurant. The food is adapted to European taste - not spicy. The interior is a classic Nepalese restaurant: Buddha statues, flags, bells, etc. I can recommend monkfish curry, shrimps curry and samosas.

Stopped in for dinner and had a great meal. Atmosphere is chill and cozy but the staff is also really friendly and helpful. They are knowledgeable about the menu offering great recommendations. Food is pretty good, it was our first time trying Nepalese food, very similar to indian food. And for their prices it’s 100% worth it.
